04 / About the project
Before a label, a question.
Have I Been Culted? began with a simple idea: make it easier to examine an unsettling experience and find a useful next step.
More than one way in
Some people arrive with a clear description of what happened. Others are not ready to call their experience a cult, abuse, or coercive control. The site does not require that decision. You can reflect on specific behaviors, read a guide, or go straight to the directory.
The self-check is a starting point for reflection. The directory gives context behind a link: what the service does, who it describes serving, what it costs where published, and what to ask before contacting it.
Behavior, not a test of belief
The questions focus on isolation, information control, fear, money, accountability, boundaries, and the freedom to disagree or leave. They do not assess the truth of religious, political, or personal beliefs. Neither a score nor a directory can determine a person’s whole situation.
An independent, early-stage project
Culted is an independently operated web project, not a clinic, professional association, charity, or emergency service. It is not affiliated with the organizations listed here. Their inclusion does not indicate approval of the site or its questionnaire.
The guides and quiz have not received a clinical review. Public-source research helps ground the directory, but it does not establish professional credentials or the quality of care. We welcome qualified feedback and factual corrections.
How the project may support itself
The directory is free to browse. The owner is exploring clearly labeled sponsorship and provider features, and is open to an outright sale of the property. No paid placements are live at launch. Payment will not buy a different quiz result, organic ranking, or credential status.
Read the partnership approach or see the editorial standards.
The reader keeps the decision
You can stop the self-check, decline to share information, compare services, or decide that no listing fits. You never need a qualifying score to seek help.
